| The ADA Awareness & Accessibility Committee met on Wednesday, November 15, 2000, at 11:15 a.m. in the Combs Building, Room 430. The following individuals attended: |

| The meeting was brought to order by Dr. Naugle. Dr. Naugle asked everyone to introduce themselves. The first order of business was the review of the minutes. Ms. Clark sent a correction out regarding the last meetings minutes. Motion was made to approve the minutes including the correction by Dr. Loy; second by Ms. Coyer, all were in favor. |

Old Business
- Parking Status and Projects (Dr. Naugle, Mr. Herzog and Dr. Mercer)
Status
-The Perkins Building parking lot is finished.
-The University Drive parking spots will be taken care of when there is a break within the school year.
Projects
-One of the students working on the project that was in charge of the surveys quit. A new student has been assigned to the project and has restarted the surveys.
-Parking spots are now being monitored.
- Van for committee meetings
-Van pickup for meetings will be behind the Dizney/Rowlett Buildings.
-If you need special accommodations for transportation please contact Mr. Herzog or the dispatcher at Public Safety by 10:30 a.m. on the day of the meeting. Please specify what accommodations are needed.
- Disability accommodations statement for financial aid advising (Ms. Belluscio and Dr. Mercer)
-Ms. Belluscio and Dr. Mercer have met with Mr. John Fish, Director and Ms. Nadene Spivey, Assistant Director of Financial Assistance, regarding disability accommodations with financial aid.
-A letter of disability accommodations has been drafted.
-Ms. Bellusico asked the committee to review the draft for any revisions.
-Motion was made to accept corrections on the draft of disability accommodations by Dr. Kautzmann; second by Dr. Dilka, all were in favor.
-A suggestion was made to have the accommodations sent out every semester to academic advisors.
-A thank you letter will be sent out to Mr. Fish and Ms. Spivey for their help and encouragement with the disability accommodations.
-Motion was made for Dr. Naugle to send a thank you letter to Mr. Fish and Ms. Spivey by Dr. Mercer; second by Ms. Belluscio, all were in favor.

New Business
- Awareness sub-committees report (just any pending date, etc.)
- "Day" (Dr. Dilka and Mr. Herzog)
-Ms. Belluscio mentioned that the official month for Disabilities Awareness is July.
-Ms. Belluscio passed out an article from ADA Pipeline, published by Southeast Disability and Business Technical Assistance Center (Southeast DBTAC), regarding the "Spirit of the ADA Month, 2000."
-Information on the ADA Pipeline periodical Ms. Belluscio brought to the meeting is as follows:

-The committee discussed having banners up to promote awareness in July for people who are still on campus during the summer.
-Discussion of a date for Awareness Day was discussed.
-Motion made for Awareness Day to be Wednesday, April 18, 2001 by Dr. Dilka; second by Dr. Loy, all were in favor.

Ideas
-Workshops for the faculty and staff regarding the ADA and disabilities.
-Ms. Underwood mentioned that the way to get this information out successfully is for individual departments to be talked to at a time.
-Ms. Underwood suggested that the committee try to get an invitation to the chairs committee.
-Ms. Underwood will talk with Dr. Michael Marsden regarding this issue.
-Motion was made to check on an invitation to talk with the chairs committee regarding disability awareness by Ms. Clark; second by Dr. Kautzmann, all were in favor.
-Discussion Forums.
-Debates discussing issues that have come in front of the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court decisions will become public in late February through March.
-Informal sack lunch discussion held in the Teaching and Learning Center.
-Dr. Loy and Dr. Kautzmann will continue researching ideas for all year awareness.
- Request from Teaching and Learning Center for help in making center more accessible (Dr. Naugle and Mr. Herzog)
-One possibility is ramping the front of the Keen Johnson Building.
-Dr. Naugle mentioned putting a blue line pathway or route in the Teaching and Learning Center.
-Signage is needed in the Teaching and Learning Center.
-Mr. Herzog mentioned that Walnut Hall would be getting a wheel chair lift.
-Dr. Naugle and Mr. Herzog will check on temporary accessibility for the Teaching and Learning Center.
- Committee member's issues?
-Ms. Coyer has an issue with the Wallace building being more accessible with storm alert.
-Ms. Coyer had another issue regarding the Real Time Conferencing at the Colin Powell event.
-Mr. Herzog said that they equipment used for the Colin Powell event was outsourced.
-Dr. DeBauge-Harcum mentioned that the restrooms in the Burrier Building do not have accessible toilets.
-Dr. DeBauge-Harcum mentioned having the call boxes having a variety of instructions.
-Ms. Belluscio mentioned that the accessibility map would be updated for the Fall 2001 semester.
