| The ADA Awareness & Accessibility Committee met on Wednesday, February 14, 2001, at 11:15 a.m. in the Combs Building, Room 430. The following individuals attended: |

| The meeting was brought to order by Dr. Naugle. The first order of business was the review of the minutes. An amendment was made to the minutes regarding meeting dates, (see attached amendment). Motion was made to approve the minutes and the amendment by Dr. Loy; second by Dr. Dilka, all were in favor. |

Old Business
- Parking Status and Projects (Dr. Naugle, Mr. Herzog and Dr. Mercer)
- Parking on University Drive (Mr. Jozefowicz)
-Plan was to still remark University Drive.
-There isn't a left turn onto University Drive with the new crosswalk.
Other Parking Issues
-Mr. Herzog mentioned that there is a possibility for more parking spots in front of Combs Hall and the Weaver Building. It is still intended to have a spot that is accessible next to the accessible entrance to the Weaver Building.
-There was a complaint made regarding snow being piled up in the handicap spot, which created a big problem for people wanting to park in these spots.
-Mr. Herzog suggested that people call Facilities Services at 622-2966 and that a person is on call 24 hours a day and to have them accommodate with the snow situation(s).
-Mr. Herzog also mentioned that he would talk with Mr. David Williams in Facilities Services regarding this issue.
- Parking survey in progress (Dr. Mercer)
-Nothing to add at this time.
- Disability accommodations statement for financial aid advising (Ms. Belluscio and Dr. Mercer)
- Report on any follow up from Mr. Fish or Ms. Spivey
-Ms. Belluscio has e-mailed Mr. Fish and Ms. Spivey regarding the disability accommodations. She hasn't received any response.
-The first draft of the letter was sent in November 2000, then a letter reminder, and finally a call recently the week of the 5th - 9th of February 2001.
-Dr. Mercer tried calling and neither one of them were in their offices.
- Request from Teaching and Learning center for help in making center more accessible (Dr. Naugle and Mr. Herzog)
- Temporary Signage/Floor marking of route to elevator
-There is sign on the outside door on the alley side of the Keen Johnson Building. A sign is needed for the front door.
-Mr. Herzog mentioned that Facilities Services is going to try to have the architect that is currently looking at some plans for lifts in the Keen Johnson Building, to give some suggestions for a ramp for the front of the building.
-A platform lift will be put in the Fitzpatrick Building.
- ADA and the Supreme Court decision debate moved to March 6th at 7:30 p.m. in Wallace (Dr. Lisette Kautzmann)
-Dr. Kautzmann mentioned that it's been hard trying to find people to be debaters.
-Dr. Callahan volunteered to be a debater.
-Dr. Mercer mentioned Mr. Matt Winslow was possibly interested.
-Ms. Clark said she would put the debate information up on the website.
- Student government request for information on accessible technology request (Mr. Anderson)
-Student Government Association called Ms. Belluscio regarding items the University would need to have more accessible computer related accessories.
-Ms. Belluscio brought up a technology conference for computer technicians regarding accessibility equipment and support. Ms. Belluscio suggested to the Division of Information Technology & Delivery Services for one of their people to attend the conference, but was denied due to no available funding. |

New Business
- Awareness sub-committees report (just any pending date, etc.)
- "Day" (Dr. Dilka and Mr. Herzog)
-Mr. Herzog has a call into Dr. Robert Kustra and is still waiting on some feedback as well as talking with the public relations person with Fish & Wildlife.
-Possible fall event would be wheelchair basketball.
- "Month" (July) (Dr. Dilka and Mr. Herzog)
-See above.
- "Year" (Dr. Loy and Dr. Kautzmann)
-None at this time.
- Committee member's issues?
Teleconference Workshop
-Ms. Clark read a memo from the Equal Opportunity Office and University Counsel that was sent to Dr. Michael Marsden, Dr. Dee Cockrille, and Dr. Charles Whitlock, and Mr. Harry Moberly regarding a Teleconference Workshop: "Psychological Disabilities on Campus: What You Need to Know."
-Motion was made by Dr. Kautzmann to have Dr. Naugle contact Ms. Virginia Underwood to ask for approval to send identifying individuals strongly suggesting that the ADA Awareness & Accessibility Committee support this teleconference; second by Dr. Dilka, all were in favor.
Residential Hall Concerns
-Mr. Herzog mentioned that they are hoping to have a least two accessible rooms on each floor of each residential hall.
