| The ADA Awareness & Accessibility Committee met on Wednesday, September 11, 2002, at 11:15 a.m. in the Student Services Building, Room 364. The following individuals were in attendance: |

| The meeting was brought to order by Dr. Naugle. The first order of business was the review of the minutes. Ms. Kalscheur had a change regarding her title from Dr. to Ms. and there was a time change regarding the Art Exhibit Reception. It will be from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. instead of 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Ms. Clark mentioned she would make the corrections in the next set of minutes. Motion was made to accept the minutes by Dr. Dilka, second by Ms. Kalscheur; all were in favor. |

Old Business
- Parking Status and Projects (Mark Jozefowicz)
- Letter of appreciation sent to Mark from committee (see attachment)
- Message was sent to Mr. Jozefowicz.
- Discussion of parking around Student Services Building
- Two spaces have been placed in front of the Student Services Building. There are four spaces in the rear parking lot. Plus one more that is intermixed with the rest of the parking; this is an end space.
- The SSB will accommodate Model Lab students that have disabilities.
- Continuing concern over Parking Operation access
- Signage would be a great improvement to the area.
- Facilities Services and Public Safety will need to get together to solve some of the parking problems that are with this area.
- Motion was made by Dr. Loy for Dr. Naugle to e-mail Mr. Jozefowicz regarding the building parking issues with the Parking Operations Office, second by Dr. Dilka; all were in favor.
- Committee to gather information and draft document on building and remodeling recommendations from the committee (Dr. Naugle and Dr. Loy)
- No action for this meeting but recommendation that areas and individuals continue to gather
information and suggestions and forward them to Dr. Loy or Dr. Naugle continued
- Item has been tabled till next meeting.
- Links will be placed on the website under Off Campus Resources regarding Building Guidelines, etc.
- DATA for Newsletter (Kerri Clark)
- The committee decided to have the newsletter text-based with links since it was going to be in electronic format.
- Ms. Clark will work with Ms. Belluscio to get the newsletter completed and sent out to the university community.
- Dr. Hayes made motion for Ms. Clark and Ms. Belluscio to work on the newsletter and send it out to the university community, second by Ms. Kalscheur; all were in favor.
- Web accessibility policy/workshop (Ms. Belluscio)
- Five people selected from the campus community get to attend the Symposium funded by Academic Affairs.
- Ms. Clark is going to be able to attend and will share information at the next meeting. |

New Business
- Discussion of ADA Awareness Month events scheduled.
- Disability/ADA Awareness celebration decided on for October as this is national ADA Awareness Month (Dr. Dilka, Dr. Loy, Mr. Herzog and Ms. Belluscio)
- Plan for Awareness Day (October 1, 2002)
- The location will be in the Powel Plaza. If there is rain Awareness Day will be moved inside of the Powell Building Lobby.
- The times will be 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
- Arranging for tables (Mr. Herzog and Ms. Belluscio)
- Mr. Herzog is just going to bring 10 tables with chairs for whoever needs them.
- Possible tables that will be presented:

- Ms. Kalscheur will contact individuals within the Occupational Therapy Department as well as Paul Erway.

- Mr. Herzog will take care of talking with Public Relations & Marketing.
- Ms. Clark will contact Mr. Ron Yoder about adding the month of October events to the main EKU website News & Events.
- Ms. McClain mentioned the dedication of the Student Services Building on Thursday, October 31, 2002, that we could put information up around the building for advertising for ADA Awareness.
- Ms. McClain, Ms. Clark and Ms. Belluscio will meet to finalize dedication content for showing in the Student Services Building.
- Proclamation request from president
- President Glasser will present the proclamation at the art exhibit on Tuesday, October 01, 2002, around 6:00 p.m.
- The Richmond Register will be present for this event.
- Funding report (Dr. Naugle)
- Center on Deafness (Dr. Hayes)
- Thank you to the Center of Deafness for their support.
- Aramark or Wal-Mart/Kroger (Dr. Dilka)
- Request from Dr. Wasicsko and Dr. Davis
- Dr. Davis and Dr. Wasicsko told Dr. Naugle that the money asked for had to be real specific to the activities and events. Example would be a speaker.
- Ms. Clark mentioned that she had done some research on some celebrity speakers. The price range would be around $3500 - $15,000.
- Movie on University cable station {Sam I AM, ??} (Dr. Dilka)
- Dr. Dilka talked with Dr. Fred Kolloff regarding the showing of "Sam I AM."
- One of the things Dr. Kolloff told Dr. Dilka is that we would have to get rights to show the movie and that this costs a lot of money. He also mentioned that if this movie was on our movie list to show that they could show it at 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. for a week.
- Dr. Kolloff mentioned that the Committee could advertise through the bulletin board system on channel 60. Plus contact Ms. Marie Mitchell to announce it on the cable channel news.
- The committee mentioned contacting Mr. Wayne Gregory to announce it on WEKU and Mr. Lee Cruise of Channel 18.
- ADA activities and information announced at football game (??)
- Mr. Herzog is going to contact Mr. Dan McBride about having the ADA Awareness Day and Month announced at the football game(s).
- Mr. Herzog also mentioned having a table at the football game with some information about disabilities and our committee.
- Library activities for month (Ms. Clark)
- Ms. Clark asked for names and [Top]ics in general to search for in the Library catalog to be represented in the Grand Reading Room and the Lobby of the Library.
- Ms. Clark will bring a list of the books she suggested to be represented to the next meeting.
- Art exhibit set for Monday, September 30th through Saturday, October 26th (Ms. Belluscio)
- Reception October 1st 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. (Ms. Belluscio)
- The reception time change from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Please make this change in your calendars.
